Hey Dale, I bet you'll find this interesting to. I sure did. It shows the engine assembly order from two different engine plants. Flint and Towanda.

At Flint the engine was painted before the exhaust manifolds went on.
At Towanda the engine was painted after the exhaust manifolds were put on.
Also at Towanda spark plugs were put in before paint, and at Flint sparkplugs went in after paint.
