leafs vs trailing arms?

what's the consensus on this? my GMC has leaf springs, and I'm pickin up a set of trailing arms and hardware at the junkyard for my dad's 68, or maybe my '70 is it'd be a worthwhile swap. the truck is stock ride height, and it going to stay that way. the truck is going to be a daily driver, with occasional towing and hauling, probably nothing to over the top though.
