Unhappy JEGS sight plugs for Holley carburator and my ignorance

When rebuilding my Holley carb I ordered those cool little clear sight plugs for $8 to make float adjustment easier and cleaner.

Yesterday, I took my truck to get it inspected and the guy doing inspections tells me to shut my truck off because it's got a fuel leak and sure enough, there was a giant puddle of gold (or gas) under the truck! This was caused by the fuel melting through the site plug and pouring out...

So apparently those plugs are for adjustment only and not meant to replace the original plugs.. I sure wish the package would have mentioned that for us newbies..
