i was thinking about this... you did install NEW throttle return springs right?
and if nothing else seems obvious once the pictures get uploaded you might just need to buy the cruise control bracket just so that the throttle cable will mount properly to the carb. its a 20% part that may solve your problem. the other thing that just came to mind is: is it possible that you mounted up your cable mount bracket on the back of your intake manifold backwards or improperly? maybe one bolt hole off? one bolt hole forward of where it was before? did you use your old cable mount or did you buy one of them universal chrome jobbies that may not be exactly right?
