i6 to SB clutch linkage

I replaced my 250 with a GM 350 crate. New motor is in the correct V8 location. The original 3 speed is staying. I have Hedman Headers.

In the photo, the z bar on the top is from a 68 GMC 327, the bottom is my old one from the 250. New one is 1" too long. the old one seems just a hair too long. the old one seems like it will rub the header. Anyone know what's going on here?
