Loose Steering Column?

So I have an 89 Jimmy that had some loose steering. I wanted to fix it so I replaced all the tie rod ends and power steering gear. All the moving stuff in the front is new, so my question is: are there parts in the steering column that can wear out and cause slop? Or is it just normal with wide tires and a 4" lift to feel like you're sawing logs to keep it going straight. 32x11.50's btw.
