'68 GMC 3/4 Ton & Gas Tanks

First post here:

A firend of mine has a 1968 GMC 3/4 PU. He just removed the behind-the-seat-tank, to make room for some 40/20/40 seats from a '02 Chevy.

Now were working on a upgrade to a GM TPI Fuel Injection setup. One of the requirements is a return line. The problem is that the only tanks he has now are poly/plastic saddlebags. This won't work, and also offers no way to monitor the gas level.

So what would the recommendation be? We went out to a local junkyard, and they have some early '80s GMC/Chevys with steel saddle tanks, these also have a return line plumbed already. We would just need to swap over the bracketry.

Are there other/better tank swaps? Someone here mentioned a tank by the rear axle. Anyhow, we need a viable setup.

Thanks,

-PR
