disc brake spindle

I ran into a little snag on rebuilding my front end. It a 67 c10, the spindles I'm using are a 71-72 disc brake, all the tie rods( and the center link are 71-72. The problem i ran into is the outer tie rod shank doesn't seem long enough. With it seated in the spindle, the hole for the cotter pin is just a hair below the spindle, even when torqued down. Ive mic'd the tie rod and everything seems right. Any suggestions?
