If you have your heart set on a cherry square, I would buy a rust free one from the southwest with some dings and dents, and not be concerned about mileage. You can get these for $3K out here, then spend another $3K to restore the drive train and other parts.
Modifications like headers, carburetor, etc. actually reduce the value of a "classic" vehicle. However, you can find good "correct" stock used parts to restore it to factory condition. $9K goes about halfway toward a new work truck Silverado and you have no worries for 3 years. You can expect that there will be repairs in a 33 year old truck, regardless of how it looks. Things just plain wear out after that long. |
