Re: How about some pics of 47-59

My 1955 GMC 101-8 Deluxe 1/2 ton long bed, that for 35 years I thought was a 1956. I always thought it was odd that it was titled as a 56 but had the "Y"{1955} prefix in the serial number. I recently stumbled across the answer while perusing the forum here one evening. I discovered that GMC titled the 2nd series 55's made late in the year as 56's. It was a beauty- perfect chrome and paint when I bought it in Idaho in 1978, then I moved to New York in 87 and in a half a dozen years, due to surface rust, I had completely primered it, section by section. This past summer I decided to wet sand all the primer off and see what I had underneath- I liked what I saw so I clear-coated it. People stop and say "all it needs now is a good coat of paint!". You should see the look on their faces when I tell them "it's done".
