Transmission Dip Stick Broke at the tip

Checked my fluid and realized the end had broke off in the pan somewhere. I drove it home from work today no problems. I have a magnet on the bottom of the exterior of the pan and assume it's stuck there. I called my Father in law who owns and operates an AC-Delco center in another state and he said he's seen this before and advises not worrying about it and to wait until the next filter service to remove it. As he puts it, it is nearly impossible for it to be sucked up into the tranny and it will simply remain on the bottom of the pan. 40 years and a Master ASE so I wont worry. Besides if it does go south because of this then I have a "DAD" in the business who lets me use his shop when needed. Wouldn't be the first Chevy/GMC i've towed home and fixed. I just need a new stick. I measured whats left and theres about 31-32 inches so I at least I know it's not the 27" version and likely is the 33-34" one. Heres a pick of where it broke:
