Re: Fuel Sender testing
In an effort to continue to update progress. I have not filled the tank since the original post. We've been driving the fuel level down slowly.
Currently the fuel gauge displays almost exactly half a tank. I know the actual level is somewhere between empty and 1/3 of a tank of fuel. However for a brief period of time, the fuel gauge was displaying the accurate fuel reading. About a week ago the needle dropped from just over 1/2 a tank down to about a 1/4 tank, it stayed there for almost two days. After those two days of driving it jumped back up to around half a tank. Is this a strong indicator of something? Possibly a fray in the internal resistance wire on the sender? At this point, although not actually working if I can interperte what the fuel level is i'm good with that for a few months until it gets warmer to drop the tank and change the sending unit. If this doesn't continue to point at the sending unit I don't want to presue that option yet. |
