Is an ignition switch/key really necessary with a floor starter

Do I really need to have an ignition switch with a key when I have the floor mounted starter pedal?

I was thinking I could just mount a toggle switch on the dash to turn on/off all the accessories and ignition. Maybe a separate toggle for the ignition. That way I'd be eliminating the key. And yes I realize I run the risk of leaving it on, but that's on me.
