Fuel tank help

Let me preface this with I'm miserly and really prefer cheap to easy.

Before I decided to drink the LSx coolaid I purchased a new fuel tank. One of the blazer style that fit under the bed. I also have a fuel pump assembly from a 2005 Silverado. I'm trying to think of the easiest, and more importantly cheapest way to marry the two?

I've considered Modding the tank to mount the Fuel pump assembly but I find it hard to cut into a brand new tank. I've also considered fabbing a surge tank and putting the Silverado fuel pump in that. I have an inline pump and filter that I can keep the surge tank filled with.

Any other ideas?
