ignition switch problems

When I bought this 85 c10 it had house romex wire going to the starter with a pushbutton in the cab.

My cousin adjusted something on the column while I wasn't there and it started up.

Fast forward to last night. New motor. Turned headlight switch on and all lights worked including brakes.

Then started truck and never would start again after I shut it off. Also lights stopped wkrking. All I have as far as lights is the seatbelt light in the dash.

I had to drop the column and pull the rod that goes to the ignition switch with a pair of needlenose to crank it. Its like the key doesn't push it far enough (actually it pulls the rod and apparently makes contact)

But still don't have lights. And now the key stays in the "on" position and won't turn into the "off" position.

Can you adjust th ignition switch? Are these problems related? I thought maybe I blew a fuse or a fuseable link but can't find a fuseable link under the hood. But that still wouldn't explain the key issues
