Introduction post

Greetingd all, my name is Rollie, and I am happy to br the new owner of a 66 shortbed, stepside, 4x4.Came to me with the engine, tranny and transfer case from supposedly a 72 chevy.

Found it on craigslist just before christmas, and made it my present to myself.

Pics will be coming eventually, I hope.

It has some cancer in the normal spots. The PO had some patching done at the rocker panels that looks solid enough to leave be, but my summer will be spent fixing the corners of all the quarters, and deciding on paint.

So far my work on it includes:

-Installed new bed wood, rehabbed the bed metal . . just used regular pine from home depot at this point, one day in the future I hope to redo using the synthetic deck wood.

- new ignition switch . . . old one was dropping power quite often.

-installed headlight relays, still need to do dimmer switch though.

-installed 76 truck throttle cable and pedal . . much nicer feel

-replaced the output shaft seals on the transfer case

-installed retractable seatbelts for driver and passenger, used old belts to have enough now to let the kids ride along

-when I started the rust removal on the tailgate, found easily 1.5" of bondo on it, plus the rust was endemic through all the seams. I have a very likmited truck budget, and 300 bucks for a tailgate would cost me in other areas more important to me on the truck, so I soent about 1009 bucks and made my own tailgate. I am pretty happy with how it came out, though I am sure purists won't approve.

That is my list to this point, I gotta say, I am loving this truck, it looks, feels and drives beastly, and even rusty it turns heads and draws comments wherever I go!
