Starting issue when hot.....?

I have a '66 with an I6 250 Hi Torque motor that was having tempremental starter issues, so I have fitted a brand new starter n solenoid that I had and it appeared to start up fine. However I took it for a run today and it doesn't want to start when hot? The dash lights all come on but I get nothing, no solenoid click or anything? But then when I came to leave the show it started up fine?

Drove over to a friends workshop to look at his cars on the way home and again it started up fine when i came to leave his?????

Are there amy known issues that I should check first?
