700R4 swap, engine forward method: Headers?
I spent a lot of time reading old threads and only saw a few very old & brief references to headers related to moving the engine forward to swap in a 700R4 tranny. Hopefully, I can get some more recent experiences here. The project is a 1972 Jimmy 4WD with crate 350, no A/C. The transmission is coming from Bow Tie Overdrives with the correct output shaft already installed & the TV-EZ product. I've been a customer of theirs for over 10 years, so using them was a no brainer.
For the swap, I am doing the 'engine forward' method - moving the motor mounts forward 1 3/4" (approx), no other driveline changes necessary. For those that have done this method: 1) what headers did you use or recommend (or what doesn't fit)? 2) what was used for the lower radiator hose? Thanks! |
