This could be a long shot... but here goes.

If you have the valve covers without the Chevrolet script on them it is easy to install the valve cover UPSIDE DOWN! Stock valve covers have a high and low side. If they are upside down, the rocker(s) will contact the underside of the cover.

If you just leave the cover that way and drive it like the PO did for this truck you WILL get shiny spots... or worse.

Look to make sure the valve cover is installed correctly.
