air bag suspension but not to lay frame

i would like about a 3"-5" drop but want a nice ride. i assume air bags would be a good choice but i am not into the whole low rider frame dragging thing. is it worthwhile to do bags in this case or should i just go with a static drop springs and spindles?

i dont want to run into the problem of the truck becoming undrivable if i have an air leak so i still want some ground clearence with the bags deflated. is that possible? i know very little about the air bag systems so some schooling here would be much appreciated

this is all hypothetical as i dont yet have a project truck just trying to get my plans in order
