Need help w/3spd columns....
My 3spd column shifter has given up the ghost. I got another column from a 70 model (thinking it was the same), yanked mine only to find the steering shaft on my 68 is uncoupled & the newer column is coupled/splined immediately after the linkage.
Basically, my column is 1 solid piece (except for where it's designed to collapse) to the steering box. The newer column consists of 2pcs. between the box & the linkage. I don't have the 2nd piece that would connect @ the column base near the linkage (this would be the 'male' part of the collapsable shaft/s). Anyone more familiar w/these column differences? My only guess is the 67-8's were closer design wise to the 64-6 models (as far as steering columns go).
