Ignition switch question

I just put a inline 250 into the 53 and am wondering what has been done with installing a new ignition switch. I have a AAW HWY 15 wiring kit installed but have been using the original switch with the foot start button up until now. The universal switch that came with the kit doesn't stick far enough through the bracket at the back of the dash or through the dash itself far enough to screw on the nut from the front of the dash. I don't suppose there is a switch with a start function that fits the original dash huh? Does anyone have a good idea of how to modify the bracket at the rear of the dash to accommidate the universal switch?
