Help with steering column swap into my 64

Picked up a 65 GMC auto column for our 64 step (seller kept the wheel)

Did not foresee any issues but....

Differences in turn sig switch and upper bearing assy. and possibly the cancelation cam on back of steering wheel?

After removing the slip on bushing from the GMC column the 64 wheel bolted right up and everything appears to be fine. Tight and smooth and the turn sig cancel works. ( except for one of the ears being broke off when I bought it. Hopefully this part is available, I don't see any way to use the good one from our 64)

There is about a 3/16 gap between the back of the steering wheel and the top of the first bowl, this was much tighter on our original column. Is there a way to close this gap? Can I loosen the clamp at the bottom of the shaft and bump it up to narrow this?

As always, THANK YOU all for the help and sharing of your experience.
Todd
