brake light wiring diagram & advice

I need some help.

When we installed my c-notch/airride, my buddy just cut all the wiring for the taillight/brake lights/turn signal and pulled two wires out from the firewall that "weren't" hooked to anything. ( I wanted to trace and replace as necessary ).
I hooked up what I thought was the correct way but I think i'm missing a wire or two because turn signals only work when head lights are on and I have no taillights or brake lights.

Here's some info on the truck. PO installed universal turn signal on the column and when he "painted" the truck, he painted all the wiring under the dash as well.. and all the wiring he put on for the rear wiring he did is all "red 16g wire". So tracing wiring color has been tricky.( I am planning on re-doing all the wiring in the truck maybe this winter but i'd like to get it driveable for this summer )

Would anyone have a wiring diagram for the rear lights etc? Or would I be further ahead just to get a new turn signal switch and start fresh.. I assume it would come with some kind of instructions but still would have to try and trace factory wiring.

Thanks in advance.

Jay
