Driveshaft thoughts

I'm curious about can a guy run a single piece drive shaft with an automatic transmission at the stock height or does a person have to go to a drop loop crossmember to be able to run a single piece? I'm thinking about running the 2-peice and just having the front shaft shortened and have the slide yoke installed, I'm worried about wheel travel up and down letting a single piece get into the top and bottom of the loop.
