Neutral/backup light switch help needed.

My 84 K10 backup lights only work in neutral or drive.
I inspected the switch with a flashlight and a mirror, and there are no screws holding it to the steering column, and no place to even put screws if there were any.
The switch does jiggle a little like it might slide off the column, but I don't want to force it and break things that might be important.
I need to fix the problem so they work right and I don't get stopped for having white light showing to the rear.
Anybody got any ideas?
