Filler Neck - Beware "NOS"

Below are two shots of my 1970 filler neck. The installed one is the original which I did my best to restore. The second is a photo comparing it to the "NOS" one I bought off eBay.

As you can see, they're significantly different, and the "NOS" one would have left a fair bit of the ugly neck exposed.

Note the package has bar code, which I doubt GM used in 67-72. So I think this is a case not unlike the door handle debacle. Probably GM had some offshore manufacturer crank out a bunch of service parts for these trucks in the mid 70s or early 80s, and they're just not the same as the originals.

So they're all technical NOS, just remember the O doesn't mean "made when your truck was" or "same as what your truck came with".
