Truck vs. Car LSD. Will it fit?

Good morning again Gentlemen,

This mornings thoughts over my cup of tea are around the suitability and interchangeability of Limited Slip Diffs.

My truck currently has an open differential and this started my search for a suitable locking version. Budget won't quite stretch to a new Eaton set up so looking at used parts.

From research the truck diffs seem to be tough but are either off or on and seem to have a reputation for breaking if wheel speed differs side to side by a margin. Also disengage completely at over 20mph. Is this true from your experiences? Is there a particular year or model I should be looking at that has better characteristics?

I do have a clutch style diff from an old Camaro axle, will that fit a truck casing?

Thanks for the advice,

Regards.
