Stepside fender tanks. Ideas and thoughts.

So a few nights ago I was sitting in my truck listening to the CB and stereo like I do every night and my roommate had a brilliant idea: take the upper half of the rear stepside fender and run down the back a few inches in from the outter edge of the Wheel well and make either one of those poly tanks formed to this shape or make a steel tank to match the inner contour of the fender. The cap would sit at the front like the old ford roadster at the back of the fender. Just an idea I've been tossing around in my head. I heard an old rumor this was an option but rarely made. Thought and ideas much encouraged.
