69 Grill Restoration

My vision is a Chrome looking original 69 grill with a billet insert. After removing the anodization, I would wet sand the scratches with 2000 and then hours of buffing to a high, chrome like shine and clear coat. Has anyone done this using this technique? Any suggestions? I would prefer to buy a chrome grill but I cannot find any and a local shop wants $800! Another question, can anyone suggest quick ratio steering sector that is not $$$ out of sight? I can get a 3.5 Cardon for $81 with a core at Advance Auto. It looks like my 69 Camaros' that has an IROC box. . . .fit or no fit?
