where did your cummins end up sitting?

I am in the process of setting up the crossmember for my suburban. My friend the welder is afraid to weld the crossmember for the cummins in place because there is no body in plave to confirm placement. For the guys that haver done this swap in a 73-87( 91) where did your balancer end up sitting in relation to the front crossmember? I know I have to cut this crossmember down, does the balancer end up ahead of the crossmember if so how much forward is the front edge?

Thanks and sorry for being so wordy

Keith
