auto column question

Guys,
I recently had the column in my '65 C-10 out and replaced the lower bearing and the t/s switch, which included the upper bearing. The lower bearing was completely shot, which was causing a lot of play in the column and the strg. wheel.
Fast forward to a week ago. I started to notice and feel a slight popping noise coming from the column when turning the wheel to the right more than a 1/4 turn. I had this problem before I rebuilt the column and thought that replacing the bearings would take care of it. Now, I'm starting to wonder if I don't have something adjusted right in the column. I know that there's an adjuster towards the top of the column, right before the shift bowl, and that there's two adjusters at the bottom of the column.
I also noticed that the shifter feels a little loose and maybe not quite as smooth as it should when shifting from P to D or R. I'm thinking that if something's out of adjustment, that could have something to do with this, also.
Does anyone have any suggestions or know of something I may be overlooking here?
Thanks in advance!
