Custom steering column mounting

I am about to grab an ididit column floor shift column. I chose floor over column shift as I am trying to keep my firewall as clean as possible. That being said I would like to eliminate the stock mounting setup.

I saw this:


but it looks like the column just slips through with no way of securing the column to the mount for support. I don't think it is a good idea to have the column in place with only the two bolts holding it together on the emergency brake bracket.

So I am looking for ideas...

what ya got?
