My intro...

Hi, my name is Dan and I teach High School Auto Shop in Miles City, MT. Every year I try to find a cool older project for the kids to work on. In the past we have done a:
'27 T roadster with a y-block
'40 Chevy p/u with MII, sbc, th350, power steering, front discs, 9" rear
'53 Chevy sedan shaved, frenched, lowered, 261 GMC w/ T5
'65 Impala SS, essentially stock with some minor hop-ups
couple of '53 chevy pickups, one 2wd one 4wd, stock
'74 rigid shovelhead
and some others I'm sure I'm forgetting about...
This years project is a 1960 Chevy 2wd shortbed. Plans call for shortening a longbox fleetside to fit (can't find a short, fleetside box locally...) swapping the front crossmember for '73 to ??? (not sure the vintage, came with some extra parts with the p/u) it does have the 1 1/4 wide, 11 1/2 diameter rotor with 5X5bolt pattern, this will give us discs and power steering. For a rear I have a '76 4wd 1/2 ton with 5x5 bolt pattern - if I understand correctly (haven't measured them yet) this rear is wider than what we want?? On the lookout locally for '71-2 rear as I understand this would be the ideal swap?? Plan on a sbc/auto, looks like using the '67-'72 engine mount towers is the best/easiest way to do this swap??
Anyhow, really look forward to learning here and will try and share any progress with you guys! Thanks!
