1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
Here it is guys...I'm just never going to get around to finishing it. I got about 70% of the way through the restore and stopped and haven't touched it in a long time. I'm sick to my stomach over this so I just want this to be quick and painless.
All metal work was done by a retired guy who worked in the welding shop at Sikorski Aircraft. It is top of the line work. The cab alone cost me an arm and a leg. Tri-pro new floor, new rockers, new cab corners. Professionally coal slag blasted and then finished with SPU epoxy primer and undercoated w/Eastwood rubberized undercoating. All the rest of the body panels were also slag blasted and finished in SPU epoxy. Bed sides were out of CA, zero rust and now undercoated. Doors were out of a 72 GMC from the dessert in AZ, zero rust. The fenders (undercoated), hood, cowl, radiator support are all perfect. The frame was sand blasted and finished also in SPU epoxy. I searched all over the county to get the best parts for this truck and had everything shipped to me. Here's a list of parts off the top of my head...I'm sure I'll forget alot of stuff... -Painless Wiring Kit -Perfect 68 steering wheel w/perfect horn button. -Stainless West Coast Mirrors -Synergy Suspension Urethane Leaf Spring bushing kit -Complete Body mount kit for cab and radiator support -SM465 Tranny w/Rockwell T-221 Transfer Case completely rebuild and painted Chevrolet Orange. (I was able to find one of the last rebuild kits in the country for this T/Case and it wasn't cheap. That rebuild alone cost me a ton) This tranny and transfer case was completely broken down, rebuilt with all new gaskets and seals and done right. It is now sitting on my garage floor with gear oil in both and ready to be installed. -All new door hardware, in and out. -I have all the original glass, deluxe. Has the stainless steel trim -New Tilt steering column -Drum Brakes are all blasted and SPU epoxy, all the brake cylinders have been completely rebuilt and are brand new. -Heater box in perfect shape -Like new heat control -Doug Thorley Tri-Y chrome headers, still new in box. -NOS Black Dash Pad -Like new original Black 72 door panels. -6 lug rally wheels There's way more stuff that I have for this truck. The original donor truck was out of RI and was 2 wheel drive (C code VIN). RI didn't do titles for vehicles this old so I have an old registration and the bill of sale. The frame is an originally 68 GMC 4x4 K-10. I was building it to look like a 70 Chevy on the exterior but wanted to stick with 68 stuff on the interior and powertrain, like correct steering wheel, shifters and shift knobs which I was able to acquire and currently have. I was even able to find a T-221 correct shifter boot and ring for the T/Case shifter...yes I'm that crazy! More pics are coming just scroll down in the thread, I can only do 5 now. Everything that I took apart I meticulously bagged and labeled. And everything you need to finish this project is all there except: Motor, Seat, Radiator, Front Bumper, Door and window rubber kit (GMC Pauls is my suggestion) As you can clearly see I spent a substantial amount of money to get to this point and now I'm gonna lose my shirt but I don't want to see it sit any more. No expense was spared on this build and I can assure that rust will never be an issue...ever with this truck. I'm looking to get $9000 or best reasonable offer for everything and there's WAY more stuff for this build in my garage in boxes that I can't even remember right now.
