How to retain original looking paint

I'm in the process of restoring my 1972 k20 4X4, The original color was Willow Green. I'm not interested in a 'Rat Truck", rather I want a truck I can still use as a ranch truck and at the same time be proud of her looks and keep her from rusting away. Any ideas are welcome and I hope this is not a stupid question.

Sincerest Thanks as always,

John
