Re: 1970 C20 long bed Duramax, Allison, on a 2003 4x4 chassis
This is a really nice build. I been following yours and wanab1tons threads and they are very informative. I have some questiins though. I have a 1993 gmc yukon GT I want to do this to. And a 2006 chevy 2500 reg cab long bed donor truck. Running 6.0 and eveything. Im looking at transfering everything, engine trans frame ect. I had planned the same frame work as you, by moving the axle forward and chopping the rear off. But, what was your target wheel base, hub center to hub center? I think I will have to do both techniques that you and wanab1ton used to shorten the frame. My wheelbase target is 112 inches, wheel hub center to hub center. So I may have to shorten it at the factory weld, and at the back, and still move the axle, gas tank, crossmembers. If you got the time and wouldnt mind can you take a measurement from hub to hub for me? Also any tips on how to ensure the axle is exactly true and straight after moving? My fear is if I move the axle and I make a mistake my axle will be cockeyed. Again, awsome build and amazing detail in your write up.
