1971 ignition switch replacement ?

I've been searching for the last hour+ and can't find an answer.

I was taking out my ignition switch earlier today, but couldn't get it out?

Right now I've got it to the point where the bezel just spins and spins, but it won't separate from the switch. Is there a trick to separating the two pieces? It seems like it should have spun off by now, but it hasn't happened yet.

This is probably a simple thing and I'm probably just an idiot, but I do need help. Anyone have experience with this?
