Shortbed Stepside Bedside Headache

I was taking my 68 bedside bed apart. Sanded an oem passenger bedside down to steel, that I had bought from someone to replace my current one.

After a week of sanding, and removing three layers of old paint, I lined up my original driver side bedside next to the one I had bought and noticed that the are different!?!?

Does anyone know why the two are different? I am completely exasperated, why didn't I notice this before I started sanding???

In the first two pictures the one on the left is original to my truck, the one on the right is the one I just bought. In the third picture they are reversed (different angle). Any help is much appreciated.
