Brake pedal/light adjustment

Is it possible to adjust the amount of brake pedal travel necessary to trigger the brake lights? If so, how? I have poked around the brake switch, but it's awkward location made it impossible to see what I was doing.

I was stopped in traffic this morning and a big Dodge pickup with chrome grill was behind me. I could see the reflection of my truck in the grill and noticed that my brake lights weren't on. I pressed the brake pedal harder and the lights turned on, I went back to my "resting" brake pressure and they turned off again. I'd like the brake lights to light up with light pressure on the pedal so that I don't have to hold the pedal down with an unnecessary amount of force at every red light, or worry that the lights aren't turning on when I lightly tap the brakes while moving.

Thanks in Advance!
