1948 Bed pics and Questions

Well I decided to unbox all my new bed parts and do a mock up to see what it looks like. The truck is starting to take shape slowly. Anyhow, after moving the rear end back a little it still looks like about 2 more inches to center the rear wheel better.

My question is, this is a stock 3600 chassis and when I put the bed on with my Ford Explorer rear end, I had to run a 1.5" wheel spacer to clear the bed. Luckily I had a set of these sitting around. Has anyone else run into this? I am also toying with cutting sides to install a wheel well on the side so that I have no issues once it is done. I do have 10" wide rims on the back but even when I mocked up the 8" front on the back it still looked close.

Anyhow looking for thoughts and ideas. It is all on the joy of doing a build.
