Auto Choke Single Barrel questions

I'm looking for some a bit of information from the single barrel carb gurus out there. My 72 C-10 has had many modifications thru the years and one of things I am looking to improve the carb setup on the old 250. My question is back in 1972 would the choke on a 250 six cylinder have been divorced choke? I keep seeing reman carbs out there and they are for "auto choke" setups and I'm not sure of the auto choke versus other options if any thing else was available in 1972.

My manifold has long since its bits and pieces for the lower side of the divorced choke. Currently I have a hand choke cable installed in the cab and it works. Any information provided on history or applications would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
