1 ton questions

I'm hoping to start a mobile blasting business in the next couple of years and would like to have an older truck to put everything on. Are there any power disc brake conversions for the big trucks and I would like to have AC sometime in the future and power steering. I will be hauling a bit of weight and think a 1 ton should be up to the task. Also, would 5.3 swap be a good idea? Not so much for speed but for comfort in case I have to go out of town. It would really suck to have to drive a couple of hours with the stock 6 banger and who knows what gears.
