Back on the road again.
My sister came by and said her Camry had broke down, and did I have a vehicle she could borrow. I usually do but not this time, I said the only thing close is my 68 Chevy in my back/junkyard at my old house/rental, but it needs a carb put on, I had bought a 2bbl with adapter to fix the leaky one, but it's been parked since 2010. Went over with jumper cables and gas and tried to fire it up, no spark. Changed the points and condenser, and Ole Jim fired right up! The carb wasn't leaking but I took it home and put the new carb on, had to rig the accelerator pedal rod to the opposite side to make it work. She took it home, then called the next day to say it died on the way to work, and was on the side of the road. Went out to check, and it had a quarter tank of gas but wouldn't start. Put some gas in, and fired again, the gauge is empty at quarter tank. Only other problem she had is the three on the tree jams up, and you have to pull up on the linkage under the hood.
I talked to her the other day and she said some guy in a gas station had asked if it was for sale, go figure. Who has the grommets for the 3 speed shift linkage?
