Rear end interchange

I would like to put a more streetable gear in my 70 C10, something about 3.10.

I don't know that much about the Chevy interchanges, but was wondering what would go in easy.

I have a 6 bolt, but could switch to a 5 bolt if this would help the possibilities.

My Ford 9 inch experience, being so easy to just install a different pumpkin. has spoied me some. Might it be easier to put in a different gear to the existing stock rear? My only problem is getting someone to do it right; I hear it can be a problem. Is this so?
