You might just need a linkage kit to tighten up your gear shifter.
its straight but it has rust on the lower rear of the cab on the drivers side, both lower corners of the fenders are toast also, patch panels are on the way... I also ordered a new shifter from mr gasket, since i couldnt find any install kits for my truck if i bought a b&m mastershift... i inspected the shifter and i think its whats faulty, since it slops around too much, the shifter itself will fall into any position once i get the linkages in the right gear.. Im also perplexed about what kind of engine tranny i have since it seems like i have a mid 70s early 80s 305 v8 in it.. I think its the original tranny.. is the shift pattern
