Re: Nice 4x4 on ebay...but bring your wallet
I almost seriously considered going to buy the Christine movie car (sort of a '58 Plymouth) but after a little investigation, the "actual movie car" they were selling was built out of multiple junked cars from the movie.
Worse, the restoration was grim. As in not restored. It had nice paint in photos, but if you looked at any details like the engine compartment, it'd need a complete re-restoration to meet even my lowest standards. Good thing I didn't bother, because it went for $198,000.00. If it were a Pebble Beach restoration of the actual "hero" car from the movie, I'd rob whatever train I needed to in order to buy it, but it just wasn't nice. At least 2 people didn't care though. Honestly, at some point, you have enough money that $200K here or $4M here for something you'd like to have isn't a big decision (particularly if you might be able to resell it and recoup some, most, or all of it). But I'm not there. I still price-shop screwdrivers.
