Internal differences Vortec 5.7 and standard 5.7

What's the difference in an 86-95 1-piece RMS crankshaft and a 96-99 5.7 Vortec crankshaft? Or is there any? How does the crank reluctor for the position sensor attach to the crank?

How about the wrist pins and pistons?

I know the cam and lifters are roller block or non-roller block specific.

Reason I'm asking is because a spare engine of mine developed a pretty bad knock and I need to know what year ranges I can search for when it comes to parts.
