BCM problem on 01 suburban?

I bought this suburban a couple months ago for winter duty. Last week I was towing a light trailer and the engine sputtered and died. I coasted into a lot and couldn't get it to restart. It would turn over and barely run for a couple seconds- maybe at 300-400 rpm. I had it towed in and the guy just called and says the BCM is out. I looked it up and it seems that the BCM takes care of lights, horn, etc. They want about 600 to replace/flash it but I'm not certain of their diagnosis. What do you guys think? Thanks Greg
