Wood Steps for a stepside?

Was just thinking of doing something a little custom and making my step assemblies out of wood. Anyone ever try that?

Thinking that you would make a light frame from medium gauge steel then use stair style step treads cut to shape and marine grade plywood for the vertical piece? Thoughts??
